Regulatory Compliance Recovery Fee

Palmetto Gas must comply with federal, state and local regulations governing the handling, transportation, and delivery of propane. Additionally, regulations covering such issues as employee and public safety, handling hazardous materials, homeland security, and emergency preparedness add to the rising cost of compliance. A portion of the costs associated with regulatory compliance are covered by the Regulatory Compliance Recovery Fee. Funds collected are also used for safety training, equipment inspection, recertification, and environmental regulatory compliance that allow Palmetto Gas to maintain our own safety standards which already meet or exceed federal, state and local requirements. THIS FEE IS NOT GOVERNMENT IMPOSED NOR IS ANY PORTION OF IT PAID TO ANY GOVERNMENT AGENCY.

Fuel Surcharge

Significant increases in the price of fuel have dramatically affected our transportation costs when making propane deliveries. The Fuel Surcharge helps to offset some of these additional costs. The Fuel Surcharge is based on the current price of crude oil and may fluctuate up or down over time. Palmetto Gas reviews the Fuel Surcharge each month and makes adjustments based on Department of Energy posted pricing. This surcharge is clearly reflected on the delivery ticket.

Tank Rent

Palmetto Gas provides a propane tank for our customer’s use on their property. As we maintain ownership of the tank, Palmetto Gas is responsible for the maintenance of the tank and compliance with all regulations regarding propane storage vessels. Additionally, Palmetto Gas must carry insurance and perform periodic testing to make sure that the tank is within original manufacturer’s specifications and codes. Tank rent is charged to customers that take delivery of less than 100 gallons of propane per year. Delivery volumes are reviewed annually.
